SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM®

If you could inject your favorite luminizing serum directly into your skin, wouldn’t you? Skinvive, a new hyaluronic acid filler, promises to make skin more radiant, smoother, and better hydrated for six months at a time.

Approved by the FDA in May 2023, the injectable’s official indication is to “improve the smoothness of the cheeks” (in other words, to smooth fine lines). However, many are describing it more generally as a “skin booster”- unlike traditional fillers, it is not designed to rebuild volume but to target subtle lines, hydrate, and give the skin a more radianct appearance.

PLSTK was fortunate to be among the first practices to start offering Skinvive treatments in late September 2023. We treated several of our staff members. Today we are excited to share their Skinvive results and experiences with you!

How is Skinvive different for a typical dermal filler?

Unlike traditional fillers, SKINVIVE is designed to enhance skin quality through deep hydration rather than adding volume. This innovative treatment utilizes microdroplets of HA that are injected superficially into the skin, promoting a radiant, and hydrated appearance. SKINVIVE is perfect for improving skin texture and luminosity without altering the natural contours of the face.

Who is a good candidate for Skinvive?

A good candidate for Skinvive is a patient who has noticed dry, rough, or dull skin and wants to achieve a smooth, bright, and glowing complexion. Skinvive is injected into the dermis to attract moisture to the treatment area, effectively hydrating the skin. Patients should avoid Skinvive treatment if they have a history of allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid fillers or lidocaine, the numbing agent usedin the injectable treatment.

Is Skinvive treatment effective?

Clinical trials have shown that Juvederm Skinvive is a safe and effective treatment for increasing skin hydration and smoothness. A controlled clinical study, in which evaluators were blinded, was conducted to assess the safety and efficacy of Skinvive. Patients were asked to rate their satisfaction with the treatment one month and six months after receiving the injections considering factors such as skin healthiness, hydration, and radiance.

After six months, 63% of patients reported being satisfied with the radiance of their skin in the treatment area, a significant increase from 11% satisfaction rate before treatment. Similarly, 83% of patients were satisfied with the health of their skin compared to 38% before treatment, and 72% reported satisfaction with facial hydration at six months up from 24% pre-treatment. Juvederm Skinvive received FDA approval in the United States following these trials, confirming its safety and effectiveness for patients seeking smooth, hydrated skin.
