The Crooks be blindin’
Posted by Dandiggity | Filed under PLSTK

Yo man, these boys are truly on a level of their own. I’ve seen so many other “new age” clothing lines come and go. But Crooks? You cannot fade them. Period. Met these cats many times from my boy Nick Ngo (17 Hertz) and they always show love for the Bay.
Street cred goes a long way. Rep’ your hood, but if you ain’t hood, don’t front like you are!
Oh yeah, that piece is real nice too.

Bruno 9li “META” Exhibition
Posted by Dandiggity | Filed under PLSTK
My friends Brian and Cherri have been a positive force in the South Bay’s ever growing art scene. Their Anno Domini gallery has been around for nearly a decade showcasing the best in maverick artists, locally and internationally. Every first Friday of the month their gallery (and many other galleries on South First Street in San Jose) opens its doors to patrons wishing for something new to tantalize their senses. This is Bruno 9li’s second showcase at Gallery AD and I’m sure it’s not going to be his last. But don’t sleep on him, or this gallery.

Anno Domini presents…
“META” a solo exhibition by Bruno 9li
feauring new works and a site-specific installation
Bruno 9Li (São Paulo, Brazil) returns to Anno Domini on August 1st, 2008 for his second solo exhibit in the United States. META, the title of 9Li’s follow up exhibition to Mysterium Tremendum (2007), is a reflection on its Greek origin relating to the concept of “beyond.” What lies beyond the perceptible reality that we share in our day to day lives? What follows our existence here on Earth? Bruno continues his process of drawing as a means of contemplative action while these ideas flow through him and into the art. He pulls his inspiration from the themes of spiritism, metaphysics, ovnis (UFOs) and exotic, aquatic plants and animals.
His figurative works are a synthesis of these alternative realities. Bruno elaborates, “They represent entities sharing spiritual experiences: animals that have combined with aquatic plants, beings that see through futuristic glasses – perhaps a metaphor for the kind of vision that sees a reality beyond what our senses perceive, the kind of sight considered sacred, given to us on earth to help us gain insight into our place in the cosmos.”

I got a heads up from my homegirl Cathy Bach about a cool industry mixer put on by Tobi and Goorin Brothers!
I hear they will be giving out hats. So folks in the Bay Area I suggest getting there with the quickness!
Ques of LCP United

Yo what’s good fam? This is my first post here on the PLSTK blog and I hope to constantly keep you all updated on things new in the art, design, music, and dance world. There’s more to add I’m sure, but lets just cover the basics.
I just wanted to showcase an artist I’ve been feeling for the last couple years. He has flipped so many images of my favorite Hip Hop artists I couldn’t help but jock his steez. Ques is a part of a three man group of talented artists using motion graphics and traditional illustration to kill the game, one project at a time. Ques also helps out with a fresh online music broadcast called BTS Radio that showcases mixes from today’s leading beatsmiths and producers.
Check the links and give the dudes some props.

One Day As A Lion
Posted by Mark PLSTK | Filed under PLSTK
“It’s better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.”
“A defiant affirmation of the possibilities that exist in the space between kick and snare. It’s a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask. One Day As A Lion is a recorded interaction between Zack de la Rocha and Jon Theodore from Los Angeles, California.”
“The name taken from the infamous 1970 black and white, captured by legendary Chicano photographer George Rodriguez featuring a center framed tag on a white wall in an unspecified section of Boyle Heights. It reads: ‘It’s better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.’ This record is a stripped down attempt to realize this sentiment in sound.”
“One Day As A Lion is both a warning delivered and a promise kept.”
I can’t wait for this to drop! EP coming out on 7/22/08!
